The Learning through Service Program, a pilot program initiated by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada and the Canadian International Development Agency, CAN, 2001, which provided me the opportunity to live and work in Gambia, Africa for three months and assist in setting up a training program for rural development workers.

I received this award for making a great literary contribution to the university.  I wrote a play inspired by my experience in Gambia, Africa. I performed this piece in three locations across Canada: Banff, AB, Halifax, NS, and Cape Breton, NS.
